Libby Svenson: Managing Editor

Year, major(s)/minor(s): I’m a senior this year, and majoring in history, with minors in creative writing and philosophy.

What’s the last book you read for fun? The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, by Katherine Howe. It’s about the Salem witch trials, and nicely combined compelling fiction with history, which is something I really love.

Coffee or tea? Tea 4ever.

If you could be any literary character for a day, who would you be and why? I would want to be Marius Pontmercy from Les Misérables because it’s one of my favorite novels, and I love the time period it’s set in. But basically everyone dies, except Marius, so I’d want to be him so I could experience revolutionary France, but not die.

Plans after you graduate: The ultimate goal is to get accepted into the Iowa Writers’ Workshop or another top MFA program for creative writing, and then write books for the rest of my life. But before applying for MFA programs, I’d like to spend some time working in the publishing industry.
